Customize the Watchface of your Huawei Watch GT and possibly Watch GT 2

At the time of writing this blog, the working Health Beta version was 10.0.1.21 - WearBeta and the Watch GT (series 1) version was 1.0.9.6.

Watch GT has a great potential to showcase some amazing watch faces because of its AMOLED screen and a variety of watch-face creators. Some of the designs are a direct copy of Samsung Tizen watch face designs. There is no way those designs will make it to Huawei as Samsung watches are Tizen OS based Smartwatches, which can give you shortcuts, allow installing apps, whereas the GT supports merely image-based watch-faces (for now maybe). 

Below is the process to enable the Developer mode to try out various themes (hwt) files and get the most out of GT from the watch-faces standpoint. These watch-faces support a maximum of 20 widgets. In case after installing a watch-face, the screen goes blank, you will have to reset the watch. So be careful when installing a watch-face taken from the web.

Broadly there are two steps.

1.    Getting a Chinese ID from Huawei site

ID created on Huawei with location is China. Changing the location of old id won't work, don't waste your time 

2.    Installing the Huawei Health Wear Beta App

(currently, supported version is 10.0.1.21)

Steps to create Chinese Huawei ID:

1. Open THIS Url. Select the second tab as shown.

Don't Change/translate the language of the webpage refer to this screenshot. Or keep translating and non-translating this page (why is below) Or change to English or as per preference and select China. and back to Chinese.

2. Provide Valid Email ID and Verify the Email by clicking on "Obtain verification Code" ( you cant click this unless you are in the Chinese language because of overlay text.)

3. Complete slide action by clicking here. You have to slide the tile to match the empty tile area.

4. As Phone number is mandatory to provide a valid phone number and verify you can try your country. This is where the problem comes sometimes, Some countries it works and for some countries, it won't. maybe because of rates or something, I'm not sure. It worked for India. Same way like email, get verification code on SMS and you are thru to final steps in creating a Chinese id.

5. Enter details and complete form, Click on register

Voila... Half of the work is done..... Congrats, get yourself a beer or a coffee as you need... 

Once the account is created Following steps should be executed in your Android Mobile(Android Version 5 +)

1) Put the Mobile in the Airplane Mode.

2) Connect to the Wifi and turn on the Bluetooth

3) Download Huawei ID Service app from the Playstore, this is needed if you dont hv Huawei/ honor phone.

4) Download HiHealthBeta app (10.0.1.21) from the url( HERE) and Install it.

5) Open the app and select the country as China.

6) Login to the app using the credentials created in part 1 above.

How to set a new watch face (only 1 can be passed at a time)

Open Wear beta app and follow below. Some users say you have to go to Airplane mode and again turn on the Wifi and Bluetooth and follow the same process below. For me it works without going to airplane mode.

Prerequisite: Download the hwt you want to install. Keep it in a separate folder and not download. If you try from download folder, it does not work.

As per latest update before opening health beta disable data (internet and Mobile)
Once you are on devices tab, enable data. Enjoy the amoled screen and variety of custom watch faces.
